fine 13s4dit is found by the homage that Rich Prentice out of the court and since the last court lying on his death bed surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Rich Ennowes instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Greene and Jn Warde the lord's customary tenants and other the same witnessing all that the moiety of one cottage with a curtilage called Coopes lying between the messuage sometime Steph Miller's of the one part and the garden late of Jn Wright's of the other part one head thereof abutting upon the highway leading from Colne aforesaid toward Colchester as etc in which Wm Clerk now dwelleth to the use and behoof of Rich Prentice his heirs and assigns on condition that the foresaid Rich Prentice pay or cause to be paid to Joan Prentice one of the daughters of the said Rich Prentice deceased 5marks of good and lawful money of England at the said tenement called Coopes within four years next coming after the death of the said Rich Prentice father deceased in manner and form following viz at michaelmas.next after the date of these presents 16s8d and so forth yearly at the said feast of michaelmas 16s8d until the said sum of 5marks shall be fully satisfied and paid to the said Joan which Rich Prentice being present in the court came and prayed to be admitted thereunto to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered by the rod to hold to him his heirs and assigns on condition aforesaid of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services therefore before due and of right accustomed and he giveth fine and made fealty and so was admitted the lord's tenant thereof
