whereas at the court here holden on tuesday in the week of pentecost 16.5.1Eliz1 came Rich Orbell and surrendered into the lord's hands one messuage and 10a of customary land with the appurtenances sometime Robt Hillies lying in Colne aforesaid as etc to the use and behoof of the said Rich Orbell and Margt his wife for term of their lives and the longer liver of them to remain thenceforth after their decease to Nich Parker of Colne aforesaid and his heirs to which Rich Orbell and Margt the lord at the same court by his steward granted seisin thereof to hold to them and their assigns during the term of their lives and the longer liver of them of the lord by the rod etc to remain thenceforth as before etc as by the roll of the court aforesaid more at large appears and whereas at the court here holden on friday viz 5.11.5Eliz1 it was found by the homage that the foresaid Rich Orbell that had held the said messuage and 10a of land of the lord jointly with the said Margt his wife as before appears after the then last court died and that the said Margt being thereof sole seised out of court and since the last court being then the last had surrendered into the lord's hands according to the custom of the manor the foresaid messuage and 10a of land to the use and behoof of the said Nich Parker and Agnes his wife and the heirs of the said Nich during the whole term of the life of the said Margt on the condition that the foresaid Nich Parker and Agnes and the heirs of the said Nich should pay or cause to be paid to the foresaid Margt and her assigns yearly during the whole term of the life of the foresaid Margt 40s of good and lawful money of England to which Nich and Agnes there was seisin thereof delivered to hold to them and the heirs of the said Nich of the lord by the rod etc on condition aforesaid etc as by the roll of the same court more at large appears and whereas at the court here holden on monday viz 1.6.10Eliz1 (sic) it was found by the homage that the foresaid Nich Parker before that court died and that Rich Parker was his son and heir and of the age of 16yrs which Rich then at the same court by Roger Potter his guardian was admitted to certain other lands and tenements then the foresaid messuage and 10a of land and also at the same court the custody of the foresaid Rich was committed to the foresaid Roger during his nonage as by the said roll of the same court more at large appears and whereas at the court here holden 28.7.29Eliz1 it was found by the homage that the foresaid Margt Orbell long before that court died whereupon the foresaid Rich Parker son and heir of the foresaid Nich came to this court and prayed of the lord to be admitted to the foresaid messuage and 10a of land late Robt Hillies and now commonly called Pakes Gate according to his right and according to the custom of the manor and because Humph Brocke and the foresaid Agnes his wife late the wife of the foresaid Nich Parker which Agnes during the life of the foresaid Margt held the foresaid messuage and 10a of land by right of accruing after the death of the foresaid Nich Parker are occupying of the foresaid messuage and 10a of land therefore at the same court day was given to the foresaid Humph Brocke and Agnes to show if they have any thing or can say anything why the foresaid Rich Parker as son and heir of the foresaid Nich Parker should not be admitted to the foresaid messuage and 10a of land and now at this court came as well the foresaid Rich Parker as the foresaid Humph Brocke and Agnes his wife and the for esaid Humph and Agnes could say nothing wherefore the foresaid Rich should not be admitted to the foresaid messuage and 10a of land according to his right aforesaid therefore the lord by his steward granted the foresaid Rich seisin of the foresaid messuage and 10a of land to hold to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services therefore before due and of right accustomed and he giveth fine as appeareth in the head and made fealty and is admitted tenant thereof
