whereas at the court here holden on monday next after the feast of st andrew the apostle in 3Edw6 Jn Sparrowe was admitted the lord's tenant to him and his heirs to a tenement with garden adjoining called Garlandes as by meets and bounds etc of the surrender of Jn Warner and Agnes his wife as by the roll of the same court appeareth etc now at this court the foresaid homage present that the foresaid Jn Sparrowe is dead and that he before his death surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Jn Person instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Greene and Robt Rookes two customary tenants of this manor the same witnessing according to the custom of the same manor the foresaid tenement with the garden called Garlands with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Robt Sparrowe his son and his heirs on condition that the same Robt shall pay his debts and unto Parnell daughter of the said Jn 20s of lawful money of England within one month after his decease whereupon now to this court came the foresaid Robt Sparrowe and refused and denied to have or take anything by force of the surrender made by the foresaid Jn Sparrowe in manner and form aforesaid whereupon the lord of his special favour by his steward aforesaid granted out of his hands to Jn Sparrowe son and heir of Jn Sparrowe (may be Jn Sparrowe) son and heir of Jn Sparrowe aforesaid now deceased by Robt Sparrowe his uncle the tenement with the garden aforesaid called Garlands to have and to hold to him the said Jn Sparrowe the younger and his heirs of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor aforesaid by the rents services and customs therefore due and of right accustomed and he made fine and his fealty is respited etc and he is admitted tenant thereof and because the foresaid Jn Sparrowe the younger is under age viz of the age of 12yr or thereabouts therefore the lord by his steward aforesaid granted the custody as well of the body of the foresaid Jn as of the lands aforesaid to the said Robt Sparrowe his uncle until the age of the said Jn of twenty one years etc and for such custody he made fine etc
