at this court came Jn Somersome and present here in full court showed a certain warrant of Roger Harlakenden esq lord of the manor aforesaid to be enrolled in court the tenor of which follows in these words viz be it known to all men by these presents that I Roger Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor have licenced and by these presents do give liberty and licence unto Jn Somersome to fell or stub up six pollingers of oak now standing and growing upon the lands of the said Jn called John Adams alias Stacies and Wastlins or any part thereof holden of my said manor by copy of court roll the timber of the said pollingers coming to be employed about the necessary repairing enlarging or amending the customary tenement of the said Jn standing and being upon the lands aforesaid and the lops and residue of the said six pollingers to be employed and committed by the said Jn to his necessary fuel or otherwise his own use at his pleasure and these presents to be enrolled at my next court to be holden for my manor aforesaid shall be unto him a sufficient warrant in that behalf given under my hand and seal at Colne Priory this 8.1.1598 Roger Harlakenden
