whereas at a view with court here held saturday in the week of easter 39Eliz1 2.4.1597 Rich Evans was admitted tenant to himself and his heirs to two cottages with appurtenances late Rich Filbridge and to one parcel of land called Myllhill and to a garden with appurtenances called Lophams containing by estimation 1r more or less lying on the said hill called Millhill as by metes and bounds it is plainly divided and shown as appears in the copy of court roll here shown now at this court it appears to the homage aforesaid that after the last court and before this court the aforesaid Rich died and that before he died he surrendered all and singular the premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Rich Wade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Reade and Thos Leffingwell two customary tenants of the manor according to the custom of the manor aforesaid to the work and use of Ann his wife for the term of her life and after her decease then to the use and work of Jn Evans brother of the aforesaid Rich and his heirs forever on a condition that the aforesaid Jn Evans his heirs or assigns pay or cause to be paid all the debts of the aforesaid Rich which were owing at the time of the death of the said Rich Evans which Ann present here in court is granted seisin of the premises to hold to herself according to the form and effect of the surrender aforesaid to hold of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord accord ing to the custom of the manor aforesaid by the rents services and customs before due and of right accustomed and she made fine to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant
