whereas at a view with court here held saturday in the week of easter 39Eliz1 2.4.1597 Rich Evans was admitted tenant of the lord to himself and his heirs to one piece of waste soil of the lord of this manor adjoining his customary tenement belonging to the said Rich lying on a green called Colne Green and containing in length 10rod and in breadth 4rod now enclosed as is shown by copy of court roll now it appears to the homage aforesaid that after the last court and before this court the aforesaid Rich died and that before he died he surrendered all and singular the premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Rich Wade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Reade and Thos Leffingwell two customary tenants of the manor the same witnessing according to the custom of the manor aforesaid to the work and use of Ann his wife for the term of her life and after her decease then to the work and use of Jn Evans brother of the aforesaid Rich and his heirs on the condition that the aforesaid Jn Evans his heirs or assigns pay or cause to be paid all the debts of the aforesaid Rich which were owing at the time of the death of the said Rich which said Ann present here in the court is granted seisin of the premises to hold to herself according to the form of the surrender aforesaid to hold of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor aforesaid by the rents services and customs before due and of right accustomed and she made fine and fealty and was admitted thereof tenant
