Colne Priory 15.2.1695 memorandum the day month and year above written Sam Newton of Elmshead in the county of Essex yeoman a customary tenant of the said manor did by the rod surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Sam Midleton instead of the lords bailiff and in the presence of Geo Toller and Edw Warren two customary tenants of the said manor according as the custom thereof is one tenement and certain lands to the same belonging with the appurtenances called by the name of parcel of Seven Acres lying in the parish of Earls Colne in the said county and now in the tenure and occupation of Jon Gosslin and al l the profit property right title interest claim or demand whatsoever of him the said Sam Newton of or unto or out of the herein afore surrendered premises or any part thereof and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and all other the customary messuage lands and tenements whatsoever of him the said Sam Newton held of the said manor to the only proper use and behoof of Jn Newton of Earls Colne aforesaid yeoman and his heirs and assigns absolutely and forever Sam Newton mark Sam Midleton Geo Toller and mark Edw Warren tenants
