this indenture made the 23.12.1715 between Sam Carter of Great Coggleshall in the county of Essex gentleman and Mary his wife one of the daughters of Rich Hayward late of Earls Colne in the said county yeoman deceased who was brother and next heir at law of and to Mich Hayward late of Earls Colne aforesaid yeoman deceased of the one part and Jn Pattrick of Earls Colne aforesaid yeoman of the other part witnesseth that the said Sam Carter and Mary his wife for and in consideration of ten shillings of lawful money of Great Britain to them in hand paid by the said Jn Pattick a t and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Jn Pattrick his executors and administrators and assigns all that freehold and messuage and tenement and croft of land and all and singular the houses edifices buildings yards or gardens and all other of the appurtenances thereunto belonging whatsoever situate lying and being in the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid and White Colne in the said county or in one of them between the lands formerly of the prior and convent of the same town called Spillwaters Land on the one side and the land formerly of Jn Perrycox and since Robt Gouldwire on the other side thereof one head thereof abutteth on the kings highway leading from Earls Colne aforesaid towards Colchester the other head thereof abutteth on the lane called Peerse Mell Lane which said messuage or tenement croft of land and premises were formerly of and belonging to the said Mich Hayward and did descend and come to the said Rich Hayward brother and next heir at law to the said Mich which said Rich Hayward in and by his last will and testament in writing bearing date of 9.7.1693 did give and bequeath all and singular the said premises with there appurtenances to the said Mary his daughter and her heirs and assigns forever as in by the said last will and testament relation being thereunto had may more at large appear and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders together with the rent issues and profits of all and every of the said premises to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement and croft of land and all and singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold or mentioned or intended to be hereby bargained and sold with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Jn Pattrick his executors administrator and assigns from the day next before the day of date of these presents for and during the full time and term of one whole year from then to next ensuing and fully to be complete and ended yielding and paying therefore at the end of the said term the rent of one peppercorn if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent that by the virtue of these presents and by force of the statute for transferring of uses into possession the said Jn Pattrick may be in the actual possession of all and every of the said premises and maybe thereby enabled to accept and take a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance there after of him and his heirs in witness whereof the said parties have to these presents interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Sam Carter Mary Carter
