(in latin) know all christian men by these writings that I Robt Ennowse of Earls Colne clothmaker salute you etc know that I Robt Ennowse for a sum of money in hand paid by Jn Prentice senior of Colne Engaine yeoman sell and confirm to Jn Prentice his heirs executors and assigns and acquit him and his heirs of any further payment all that my tenement and garden with an orchard adjoining and all other lands to the tenement belonging and all and singular the appurtenances of old called Workemans lying situate and being in Earls Colne between a tenement once of Jn Senold late of Thos Routh now of Rich Routh senior on the east part and a tenement of Geo Chatterton new built once parcel of the aforesaid tenement on the west part one head abuts on the croft of land called Cowscroft to the north and the other head abuts on the way to Halstead to Colchester to the south and all the tenement with garden and orchard aforesaid and all and singular the appurtenances were belonging to Thos Cawche of Earls Colne aforesaid carpenter as by writing dated 9.10.5Eliz1 more plainly appears to have and to hold the said tenement and garden and orchard and all and singular the appurtenances to the aforesaid Jn Prentice his heirs and assigns of the chief lord of the fee by services owed and by right accustomed to the sole work and use of the aforesaid Jn Prentice and his heirs forever and I truly the said Robt Ennowse and my heirs the aforesaid tenement and garden will warrant and defend to him 12.10.5Eliz1
