overseers of the poor of the parish of Earls Colne also with the consent of two justices of the peace have placed and bound
Jn Cobbs
a poor friendless child as an apprentice to and with
Thos Winch
of the parish of St Mary in Colchester gardener and as an apprentice with him to dwell and serve from this day he

being 16yrs old until he reach the age of twenty four years during which time he will faithfully serve his master etc and the master covenants to teach him the art or mystery of a gardener or what other occupation he now useth and keep him in food etc and at the end of the said term to give and deliver unto his said apprentice two decent suits one for working days and the other for holy days etc
