this indenture made 9.5.1748 witnesseth that Jn Newton and Jn Hatch churchwardens and Thos Sewell esq and Jn Tiffin overseers of Earls Colne have with the consent of justices of the peace placed Hen Sweeten a poor child of the parish apprentice to Rich Harn of Burnham Essex bricklayer with him to dwell until twenty four years old during which time he to serve his master etc and Rich Harn covenants to instruct him in the art of a bricklayer and will lodge and feed him and indemnify the parishioners from all charges and at the end of the term will supply double apparel etc witnesses Robt Aylmer Abraham Dugard Geo Fromont justices of the peace R Sneyd Robt Tweed
