this indenture made 8.7.1751 witnesseth that Jas Robinson and Jn Newton gentlemen churchwardens and Jn Unwin farmer overseer of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have placed Winlock Brewer a poor child of the parish apprentice to Rich Wicker of Halstead bricklayer with him to dwell until twenty four years old (being 17years old) during which time he serve his master etc and Rich Wicker covenants to instruct him in the art of a bricklayer and lodge and feed him and indemnify the parishioners from all charges and at the end of the term to provide double apparel Rich Wicker witnesses Jn Game# Edw Hall justices of the peace Ro Nugent Robt Tweed
