in the name of god amen I Wm Stamer of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being sick in body by of perfect remembrance thanks be unto almighty god therefore do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I bequeath my soul and body into the hands of jesus christ my saviour and redeemer and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid item I give and bequeath to Mary my wife all that my land in Retyngdone by what name or names soever they be called until such time that my son Wm cometh to the age of 21yr provided that if my son be not living at the age of 21yr that then my wife shall have all that land during her natural life and after their decease I will that land to be delivered to my brother Edm Stamer my daughter Mary and my sisters Joan Sarah and Judith item I bequeath to Mary my wife my two tenements in Woodam Ferys with a land marsh and the salt coats and the salt bynds one in Chellmsford one in Beleryeka and one in Burntwood to the end of seventeen years upon condition that she shall pay unto my daughter Mary 140li of current money of England at the age of eighteen years and if my son Wm be not then living at the end of 17yr then I will that my wife shall have that land in Woodham Ferys during her life and after her decease I will that it shall remain to my daughter Mary and to the heirs of her body lawfully begotten and if she shall happen to die without issue of her body lawfully begotten then I will that it shall be equally divided to my brother Edm Stamer and my sisters Joan Sarah and Judith and if it happen that my daughter Mary depart this life before she come to the age of 18yr my will is that my son Wm shall have out of that 140li 80li at the age of 21yr and I will that my brother Edm Stamer shall have out of that 140li 20li and to my sister Sarah Halle 20li and my sister Joan Bundocke 20li item I give and bequeath to my son Wm my tenement in Hocklye with the lands thereunto belonging called by the name of Nychalles to him and his heirs forever upon condition that he shall pay unto his sister Mary 40li and if my son refuse to pay this 40li at the age of 18yr then it shall be lawful for my daughter Mary to enter unto that land till such time as she shall be satisfied the sum of 40li I will that my wife shall be guardian to my children upon condition that she shall put in sufficient surety to perform this my will and if she cannot put in surety then I will that my overseers shall take them in their custody and put in sufficient surety to Mary my wife to perform this will and here I make and ordain Mary my wife my sole executrix giving unto her all my goods and movables whatsoever provided always that if my wife be now with child that then she shall give it 100li of current money of England to be paid to it at the age of 21yr item I give unto Thos Radlye 40li to be paid unto him at the age of 21yr item I bequeath unto Jn Teboll 50s item I bequeath unto Jn Champne 50s to be paid unto them at michaelmas .next after my decease item I give unto my brother Edm Stamer 5li to be paid unto him within two years next after my decease item I give unto the poor of Retyngdon 20s item I give unto the poor of Hocklye 20s to be paid them within 1yr next after my decease item I give unto the poor of Earls Colne 20s and four sermons two to be preached by mr Howlte and two by mr Foster and for their pains 20s apiece item I give to Geo Andrews my servant 13s4d item I give unto Rose Lambard my servant 13s4d item I give unto Ellen Skott my servant 13s4d to be paid them within 1yr next after my decease item I give unto the parish of Hocklye towards their suits in law 20s to be paid within two years next after my decease and here I make and ordain my brother Jeff Lyngwood and my brother Jn Boondocke my overseers to this my last will and testament and their charges to be born at all times in these my affairs and for their pains I do give unto them 20s apiece item I give unto my brother Edm Stamer 20bushels of wheat and 20bushels of malt to be paid him between this and midsummer next to this my last will and testament I have set to my hand the 20.2.1589 in the presence of Gabriel Holt Jn Warde Thos Vykers Jeff Lyngwood mark Jn Teboll by me Wm Stamer
