16.8.1592 in the name of god amen I Jn Leppingwell of Earls Colne in the county of Essex being of a good and perfect memory thanks be unto god do make and ordain this my last will and testament in writing in manner and form following that is to say first I bequeath my soul unto jesus christ my only saviour and redeemer and my body to be buried in the parish churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid imprimis I give and bequeath to Edith my daughter one tenement called Umfryes with the yard thereunto belonging and to her heirs forever and I will that she shall pay out of the said tenement to my daughter Juday or her assigns within 2yr next after my decease the sum of 20s of lawful English money item I give to my said daughter Edith Joan and Alice my daughters and to their heirs forever 8a of my copyhold land by estimation lying in Earls Colne aforesaid called Haynes and Clotts to be equally divided between them after the decease of Alice my wife if they be then living if not then the heirs of them or any of them to have their part and further I will that they shall pay to my son Robt Leppingwell 40s of lawful money of England within three years next after the death of the said Alice my wife item I will that my customary tenement wherein one Rich Clarke now dwelleth shall be sold by my executrix or her assigns within three years next after my decease to pay my debts item all the rest of my goods and movables not mentioned or expressed in this my will I give unto Alice my wife whom I make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament item I make Wm Tyffyn of Wakes Colne in the county aforesaid gent supervisor of this my will to see this my will well and truly executed and I will that my executrix shall pay unto him for his pains therein to be taken 10s of lawful English money witnesses to this my present will Jn Churche mark Robt Reade and Jn Tyffyn writer mark Jn Leppingwell
