in the name of god amen 31.3.1593 I Greg Garwood of Earls Colne in the county of Essex tailor being sick in body but yet in good and perfect remembrance I thank god therefore do ordain and make my last will and testament in manner and form following first and principally I surrender and bequeath my soul to almighty god and my body I willingly yield to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid item I do give and bequeath unto Agnes my wife my tenement or cottage with appurtenances wherein I do now dwell except the lower end of the yard or orchard wherein a cottage is begun to be builded as it is now severed and inclosed with a hedge from the yard adjoining to my said tenement or cottage to have and to hold all the said cottage or tenement with appurtenances except before excepted to the said Agnes my wife for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I will the said cottage or tenement with appurtenances except before excepted to remain to Geo Garwood my eldest son and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and the said lower end of the yard or orchard I do give and bequeath unto Agnes my eldest daughter for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease then to Greg Garwood one other of my sons and to his heirs and assigns forever item all my goods chattels and implements of household stuff whatsoever except one posnet with a bayle my biggest brass pot one chest standing in my chamber one great ship chest one other lesser ship chest and my table standing in the hall with the frame to it and one feather pillow I do give and bequeath unto the said Agnes my wife and the said posnet with the bayle I do give to Marge my daughter and my biggest brass pot I do give unto Agnes (may be Agnes) my youngest daughter and the said chest standing in the said chamber to the said Margery my daughter and the said great ship chest to Thos my younger son and the lesser ship chest to Nich my son and the said table with the frame to Wm my son and the said feather pillow I do give and bequeath unto the said Agnes my eldest daughter item I do ordain and make the said Agnes my wife executrix of this my last will and testament requiring her to see my debts legacies and funeral charges paid and discharged as my trust is in her Greg Garrad witnesses to this will Hen Abott sen Simon Ive Awdrye Wade
