in the name of god amen the 6.2.1607 I Jn Greene of Little Baddowe in the county of Essex yeoman being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be given unto almighty god do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god my creator and maker hoping to be saved by jesus christ my redeemer and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Little Baddowe aforesaid at the discretion of my executors item I give and bequeath unto Robt Greene my son all that my messuage or tenement with the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging where now I dwell lying in Little Baddowe aforesaid to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever item I give and bequeath unto Wm Greene my son all those my two parcels of land with the appurtenances lying in Sandon commonly called Sandon Fields belonging to my said messuage to him and his heirs forever item I give and bequeath unto my said son Wm all that my messuage or tenement with the appurtenances lying in Halsted called in times past the Angel now in the tenure and occupation of Robt Ostler to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever item I give and bequeath unto my said son Wm all that my messuage or tenement with the appurtenances and lands lying in Earls Colne and Gaines Colne now in the tenure and occupation of Jn Pereson both free and copy to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever item I give and bequeath unto my said son Wm 13a of customary land more or less lying in Halsted aforesaid now in the tenure and occupation of Thos Tottman to him and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever item I give and bequeath unto Grace Hunwick my daughter one parcel of customary land called Johnings whereon standeth a coate# being in the parish of White Colne lying on the south side of the kings highway leading from Colne to Colchester for her during her natural life and after her decease to four of her sons that is to say Wm Hunwick Alan Hunwick Franc Hunwick and Geo Hunwick and to their heirs forever item I give and bequeath unto Mary Harding my daughter two parcels of customary land lying in White Colne aforesaid being the other two parcels of the said customary land called Johnings lying on either side of the forebequeathed parcel to her during her natural life and after her decease to Jn Harding her son and Mary Harding her daughter and to their heirs forever item I will and bequeath unto Mary Harding my daughter all that my messuage where now I dwell with all the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging lying in Little Baddowe aforesaid for the term of four years from the day of my death yielding and paying unto Robt Greene my son the sum of 20li of lawful money of England yearly to be paid at two several payments half yearly by even portions provided always that if Mary my said daughter shall at any time during the said term commit any waste in or upon the premises that then her foresaid estate shall presently be void and frustrate also my will and meaning is that Mary my said daughter shall maintain and repair my said messuage with the appurtenances during the said term being allowed timber for the same upon the premises and further my will and mind is that Robt Grene my son shall have to his own use and behoof that chamber in the said messuage over the parlour with the bed and furniture to it belonging whereon now I lie during the said term of four years and for the said Robt to have the keeping of one house upon the premises with grass in the summer and hay in the winter item I will and bequeath unto the six daughters of Edith Pereson my daughter deceased that is to say Joan Pereson Mary Pereson Kath Pereson Rose Pereson Ann Pereson and Edith Pereson to every of them 3li of lawful english money to be paid unto them at their several days of marriage and if any of them do die before their said days of marriage then her or their portions to be distributed among the survivors item I will and bequeath unto the three daughters of Grace Hunwick my daughter and to Jn Hunwick her son viz to Kath Tottman t he sum of 3li of lawful english money to be paid unto her within one year after my decease to Grace Hunwick Joan Hunwick and Jn Hunwick to every of them 3li of lawful english money to be paid unto them at their several days of marriage and if any of them do die before their said day of marriage then the survivor or survivors to have their portions so deceased item I will and bequeath unto Grace Hunwick my daughter one cow to be taken at her choice item I will and bequeath unto Geo Hunwick six sheep item I will and bequeath (torn) sheep item I will and bequeath unto Mary Hardinge my daughter one cow to be taken at her choice item I will and bequeath unto the poor people of Little Baddowe aforesaid 40s all the residue of my goods chattels money and household stuff whatsoever unbequeathed my debts being paid my funeral discharged I do wholly give them to Robt Greene Wm Greene my sons whom I make my executors of this my last will and testament and I do nominate and appoint Jn Bridges gent and Jn Taylor my overseers thereof in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid in the presence of these persons hereunder named
