in the name of god amen the 3.6.1612 I Edw Catte of Earls Colne in the county of Essex chapman being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be given to almighty god do make and ordain this my testament containing herein my last will in manner and form following viz first I bequeath my soul unto almighty god my only mediator and redeemer and my body to be buried according to the good discretion of my wife and children item I do dispose my worldly goods as hereafter followeth I will and give unto Margt my wife my tenement which I now dwell in with the garden and yard and the appurtenances to the same belonging during term of her natural life and after her decease the said tenement with the appurtenances to my son Jn to him and his heirs forever item I give all the rest of my goods or household stuff unto my said wife during term of her life item I will and give unto my son Jn immediately after my decease all my wearing apparel item I give unto my son Wm my table in the hall with the frame and the forms belonging to the same after the decease of my said wife item I give unto my daughter Eliz my posted bedstead standing in the chamber to have it after the decease of my said wife item I give unto my said son Jn my cupboard in the hall to have likewise after the decease of my said wife item I will that my son Jn shall pay unto Barnebee Shutte 10s of lawful money of England one year after the decease of my said wife item I give unto my said daughter Eliz one feather bed to have it as aforesaid after the decease of my said wife item I will that such goods as my wife shall leave after her decease to be equally divided between my sons Jn and Wm item I give unto my son Wm all my tools in the working house and the leather there standing and the timber immediately after my decease and also the greestone with the trough item I will that my said wife shall repair the house during her lifetime item I do make and ordain Margt my wife my sole executrix of this my will and testament item I will and give unto my son Jn a flockbed item I will that my son Jn his executors or administrators shall pay unto Jn Strutt 5s at 21yr of age in witness whereof I have to this my testament and will set my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid Edw Catte read signed and sealed as his act and deed in the presence of us Hen Abbatt jun Robt Parker Thos Pryor Wm Catte
