in the name of god amen the 2.4.1625 etc. I Jn Kettell the elder of Earls Colne in the county of Essex and diocese of London being sick in body but of perfect memory do ordain and make this my present testament declaring therein and thereby my last will and mind in manner and form following first I commend my soul into the hands of the almighty god my creator with an assured trust and confidence of eternal life and salvation through the merit death and passion of jesus christ my saviour and redeemer and my body I will to be decently buried in christian burial within the churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid and for the ordering and disposing of that portion of worldly goods whereof it hath pleased god of his goodness to bless me first I give and bequeath unto Jn Kettell my son the sum of 5s of good and lawful money of England item I give and bequeath unto Hen Kettell my son 5s of like current money item I give and bequeath unto Robt Kettell my son 5s of like current money item I give and bequeath unto Wm Kettell my son other 5s of like current money item I give and bequeath unto Mary Kettell my daughter other 5s of like current money all which gifts and legacies which I have formerly give my mind and will is they shall be paid everyone within one month next after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Rose Kettell my wife all my movable goods and legacies of what sort or kind soever and my debts and personal rights item I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew Kettell some part of my said movable goods which I have formerly given unto my said wife at the disposing of my said wife item I do ordain and make the said Rose Kettell my wife my sole executor to see this my will and testament accomplished and performed according to the true meaning hereof in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written sealed and signed in the presence of Jn Read Robt Polley mark Jn Kettell
