in the name of god amen I Dorothy Hatch of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow being sick in body but of good and perfect memory make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following imprimis I bequeath my soul into the hands of my merciful saviour and redeemer jesus christ and my body to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereafter named as for my worldly goods I thus dispose of them first I give and bequeath unto my grandson Hen Hatch my silver drinking cup and to my grandson Jn Hatch my silver wine cup and a silver spoon to Jn Wenden my grandson a livery cupboard and a glass case and to my grandson Nath Wenden a table and six stools item to Hen Wenden my grandson six leather chairs and to my grandson Joseph Wenden the table and form in the lower room where I now dwell unto Dorothy Wenden my granddaughter a suite of curtains and valance and the great chest in the chamber over the shop and to my granddaughter Sarah Wenden a chest of drawers and a linen cloth to them and to my granddaughter Eliz Wenden a square table and a linen cloth to it to my granddaughter Susanna Wenden a holland sheet and a pair of pillowberes to my daughter in law Eliz my son Hen Hatch's wife one holland sheet and a pillowbere and to my daughter in law Susanna my son Jn Hatch's wife one holland sheet and a pillowbere to my granddaughter Eliz Hatch twelve diaper napkins and a tablecloth and to my granddaughter Dorothy Hatch twelve wrought napkins and a tablecloth to my granddaughter Rebecca Hatch one silver spoon and to my granddaughter Susanna Hatch one silver spoon item I give to my daughter Wenden my turkey mohair petticoat and my cloth waistcoat to be parted between my two daughters Sarah Wenden and Mary Christmas my other wearing clothes except linen to my daughter Mary Christmas and to my granddaughter Mary Christmas a pair of sheets and a pair of pillowberes and to my daughter Wenden my still item I give to my daughter Christmas all the household stuff that was once hers or her husbands now in my possession to be sold for the use and behoof of my grandchild Mary Christmas item I give to my grandson Jn Christmas the chest wherein now my linen lies and all the linen in the chest I give and bequeath the wearing linen and the other to be equally parted between my two daughters Sarah Wenden and Mary Christmas and all my other goods whatsoever I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my four children my sons Hen and Jn Hatch and my daughters Sarah Wenden and Mary Christmas and my will is that if my granddaughter Mary Christmas shall depart this life before the age of 20yr that the the (sic) legacy to her bequeathed shall be equally divided between my grandchildren Joseph Christmas and Sam Christmas and this writing contained in a sheet of stamped paper I own and acknowledge to be my last will and testament this 21.3.1698 sealed with my seal the day and year aforesaid constituting and appointing my two sons Hen Hatch and Jn Hatch executors of this my will and testament the day and year aforesaid sealed and acknowledged in the presence of Jn Ludgater clerk Wm Augar mark Sarah Ellis mark Dorothy Hatch
