in the name of god amen I Jn Cooke of Earls Colne in the county of Essex carpenter and victualler being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to god for the same and I do hereby make this present writing and declare it to be my last will and testament in manner and form following viz first I commend my soul into the hands of the almighty god my creator trusting in the merits of jesus christ for salvation who is my only saviour and redeemer and my body I bequeath to the earth from whence it was formed to be buried at the discretion of my executrix as herein after named item I give and bequeath unto my son Dan Cooke 2gns or forty two shillings the value thereof to be paid by my executrix within one month after my decease item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Dan Cooke 10li to be paid him when he cometh to the age of 21yr and I also give unto the said Dan my grandson all my carpenters tools and pump tools belonging unto me item I give and bequeath unto Eliz my loving wife and her heirs forever after my debts legacies and funeral expenses be paid and discharged all my stock of goods chattels whatsoever both without doors and within for the payment of my debts owing without molestation whatsoever and I do make and appoint Eliz my loving wife sole executrix to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 18.2.1721 I also give unto Dan Cooke my grandson the bed that he commonly lies upon as it stands Jn Cooke signed sealed and declared to be the last will and testament of the testator he signing it in the presence of us and we in the presence of him Wm Boosbey mark Rose Appleton Isaac Potter
