in the name of god amen I Jn Pain of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex cordwainer being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to god for it therefore do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I give my soul into the hands of almighty god hoping through merits and mediation of Jesus Christ my saviour to have free pardon of all my sins and my body I give to the earth to be decently buried by my executor hereinafter mentioned item I give and bequeath to my kinswoman Ann Rayner wife of Jas Rayner and daughter of Wm Crabb and Mary his wife the bedstead hangings and appurtenances thereto belonging with the worst of the two beds now lying upon the bedstead standing and being now up on the chamber called the best chamber item I give and bequeath to Jn Smith of the parish of Pebmarsh labourer he that married my niece Rose Crabb all my wearing apparel and wearing linen item I give all my stock in trade as a cordwainer and all the rest of household goods to be sold by my executor herein after mentioned and the money to be divided equally betwixt my five nieces daughters of Wm Crabb and Mary his wife viz Ann Rayner Hannah Everett Phoebe Crabb Eliz Crabb and Rosamund Smith wife of Jn Smith and all the rest of my personalty I give to be equally divided betwixt my five nieces above mentioned item I give my house wherein I now dwell to be sold for the payment of my debts and funeral charges by my executors hereinafter mentioned and if any surplusage shall arise after my debts and charges are paid that money so arising to be equally divided betwixt my five nieces above mentioned and lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint Jn Deaks of Great Coggeshall in the county aforesaid currier to be my executor of this my last will and testament revoking all other former wills by me made declaring this to be my last in witness whereof I the said Jn Pain the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this 25.4.1762 Jn Pain signed sealed published and declared in the presence of us Thos Allgate (may be Thos Allgate) Mary White Jn Unwin
