in the name of god amen I Sarah Sewell of Earls Colne in the county of Essex single woman being of sound mind make this my last will in manner following that is to say I give and bequeath to my niece Bridget Miles the eldest daughter of my late niece Bridget Miles deceased who was one of the daughters of my late brother Jn Sewell deceased the sum of 50li to be paid to her at the expiration of one year after my decease also I give and bequeath to my executor hereinafter appointed the sum of 50li in trust that he shall place the same at interest and the interest thereof shall pay half yearly to my niece Mary Deacon the daughter of my brother Ezekial Sewell for and during the term of her natural life for her own separate use so as not to be subject to the debts or control of her husband and her receipt from time to time notwithstanding her coverture shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor for the same and after her decease I give the said principal sum of 50li in equal shares to and among all such of her the said Mary Deacon's children Jn the eldest excepted as shall be living at the time of their said mother's decease to be paid them severally by my executor when and as soon as they shall attain their respective ages of 21yrs also I give to my nephew Jn Sewell one of the sons of my late brother Edw Sewell deceased the sum of 50li to be paid to him at the expiration of one year after my decease also I give to the son and daughter of my late niece Mary Harris deceased who was one of the daughters of my said late brother Edw Sewell deceased the sum of 10li apiece to be paid to them at their respective ages of 21yrs also I give and bequeath to my executor hereinafter appointed the sum of 100li in trust that he shall apply the same to and for the benefit of any some few or all of the children or other remoter descendants of any one two or all three of my said brothers Jn Sewell deceased Ezekial Sewell and Edw Sewell deceased at such times and in such portions and manner of application as to my executor shall seem proper either by disbursing the same or any part thereof in purchasing and providing clothes and other necessaries or conveniences maintenance and education for such of them as he shall think proper objects of his trust or in making payments of money to them which payments shall be good and sufficient for discharging my executor in respect thereof whether the same be made to the husbands or to the parents guardians or other friends or relations of any of them being under age for the use of such minors or to the minors themselves with or without the privity or consent of their parents guardians friends or relations my will is that my executor's declaration upon oath before any justice of the peace that he has paid or applied the said sum of 100li or any part thereof conformably to his apprehension of the meaning of this my will shall be admitted as complete evidence of his proper paym ent or application of so much thereof as he shall swear to the application of and shall for ever discharge my executo r from being further accountable for the same also I give to my said brother Ezekial Sewell 6gns for mourning also I give all my clothes and linen to be distributed by my executor in such shares as he shall think proper among my said niece Bridget Miles the eldest daughter of my said late niece Bridget Miles deceased my niece Mary Deacon daughter of my said niece Mary Deacon and my niece Susanna Sewell the youngest daughter of my said late brother Edw Sewell deceased and as to the residue of my goods and chattels ready money debts due to me and all other my estate both real and personal of whatever nature kind of quality and wheresoever being which shall remain after my funeral expenses just debts and legacies and the charges of the probate and execution of this my will shall have been paid and satisfied I give devise and bequeath the same to my nephew Thos Sewell son of my late brother Thos Sewell deceased of Earls Colne aforesaid and to his heirs executors administrators and assigns for his and their own proper use and behoof absolutely and for ever and I do hereby constitute and appoint him my said nephew Thos Sewell son of my said late brother Thos Sewell deceased sole executor of this my will and I do hereby revoke and make void all other wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this to be and contain my last will in witness whereof I the said Sarah Sewell have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28.4.1767 Sarah Sewell signed sealed published and declared by the said Sarah Sewell the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who by her request in her presence and in the presence of each other of us have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Wm Bailey Jn Partridge Eliz Wash
