in the name of god amen I Ambrose Marven of Earls Colne in the county of Essex brickmaker being sound in mind memory and understanding but weak in body to make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first I will and desire my executors hereinafter named to sell and dispose of as soon as conveniently may be after my decease all those my freehold premises with the messuages and tenements standing thereon situate and being in the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid and known by the name of and now in the occupation of Jn Sadd Jn Holiday and Jn Buck for the best price or prices that can be got for the same and out of the money arising therefrom I do order and direct my executors hereinafter named to pay of cause to be paid to Jn White the elder of Earls Colne aforesaid (he being my late father's executor) the sum of £40 with all the interest due thereon that being the sum left by my late father to my two nephews Ambrose and Thos each £20 to be paid to them when at the age of twenty-one years as appears by the will of my late father also my will and desire is that my copyhold premises wherein I now do dwell and which I hold of the manor of Colne Priory shall be sold as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and I do hereby order direct and empower my executors hereinafter named to sell and dispose of the same for the best money or monies that can be got for the same also I order and direct my executors hereinafter named to sell and dispose of all my household furniture and the stock in trade for the best money that can be got for the same and the money arising from the sale of such furniture and stock in trade together with the money arising from the sale of my copyhold premises as aforesaid and also the money arising from the sale of my freehold premises as aforesaid (after paying to the said Jn White the aforesaid sum of £40 with all interest due thereon) and also all the residue of my estate and effects of what nature or quality soever the same may be after payment of my just debts funeral expenses and the probate of this my last will and testament I give and bequeath to my wife Martha to and for her own use during the term of her natural life and after her decease my will and desire is that the said residue from the sale of my estate and effects as aforesaid shall be equally divided between my said children who shall survive my said wife share and share alike and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife executrix and Wm Ruffle the younger of the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid farmer executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal 16.9.1817 Ambrose Marven signed sealed published and declared by Ambrose Marven the said testator as and for his last will and testament in our presence who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed out names as witnesses thereto Isaac Joslin Watson Major Pudney Thos Walford
