whereas Jeff Potter of Foardam and Kath Wright of Stisted both in the county of Essex did propound their intentions of marriage at two several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Salling and in Felsted in the county aforesaid and the meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions of marriage that the said Jeff Potter and Kath Wright aforesaid did come into our public meeting house in Coggeshall Magna in the county aforesaid upon the 19.10.1690 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jeff Potter taking the said Kath Wright by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord ye are my witnesses that I Jeff Potter take this my friend Kath Wright to be my wife promising to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until it please god to separate us by death then the said Kath Wright taking the said Jeff Potter by the hand said friends I Kath Wright take my friend Jeff Potter to be my husband promising to be unto him a loving and tender wife until the lord separate us by death and for the further confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named do to this present writing first subscribe their own names and we who were then and there present are witnesses that they were so married Jeff Potter Kath Wright Jas Potter Peter Potter Jos Bott Wm Ludgater Sarah Bott Sarah Potter Jos Sewell Jn Maning Rich Pemberton Robt Ludgater Thos Drywood Thos Wright Mary Wright Robt Wright Mary Welch Joanna Potter
