whereas Wm Richards and Phoebe Chircock both of Coggeshall in the county of Essex did propound their intentions of marriage at two several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Coggeshall and Earls Colne in the county aforesaid and the meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions of marriage the said Wm Richards and Phoebe Chircock aforesaid did come into our public meeting house in Coggeshall aforesaid upon the 11.1.1691 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Wm Richards taking the said Phoebe by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord I Wm Richards take Phoebe Chircock to be my wife promising to be unto her a loving husband until the lord separate us by death then the said Phoebe taking the sa id Wm Richards by the hand said friends ye be my witnesses that I Phoebe Chircock take Wm Richards to be my husband promising to be unto him a faithful and loving wife until death separate us and for the further confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named have to this present writing first subscribed their own names and we who were then and there present are witnesses that they were so married Wm Richards Phoebe Chircock Robt Ludgater sen Robt Adams Jn Ludgater Robt Ludgater jun Sam Clarke Wm Ludgater Jn Fryitt Jn Jenkins Jn Clarke Mark Cowell Math Dellow Frances Clarke Mary Mines Frances Ludgater Edw Mines etc
