Jn Clark son of Solomon Clark of Ballington in the county of Suffolk woolcomber and Eliz Appleton daughter of Nich Goslin carpenter of Tayne in the county of Essex widow of Thos Appleton deceased having declare their intentions of marriage before several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Coggeshall and Earls Colne in Essex according to the good order used amongst them whose proceedings therein after a deliberate consideration thereof with regard unto the righteous law of god and example of his people recorded in the scriptures of truth in that cause were approved by the said meetings they appearing clear of all others now these are to certify all whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions this 10.3.1718 they the said Jn Clark and Eliz Appleton appeared in a public assembly of the aforesaid people and others met together for that end in their public meeting place at Coggeshall Magna and in a solemn manner he the said Jn Clark taking the said Eliz Appleton by the hand declared as followeth friends in the fear of the lord and amongst this assembly I desire you to be my witnesses that I take this my friend Eliz Appleton to be my wife promising by the lords assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until the lord shall please to separate us by death and then and there in the said assembly the said Eliz Appleton in like manner declared as followeth friends in the fear of the lord and amongst this assembly I desire you to be my witnesses that I take this my friend Jn Clark to be my husband promising by the lord's divine assistance to be unto him a loving and a faithful wife until it shall please the lord to separate us by death and the said Jn Clark and Eliz Appleton as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands and we whose names are hereunto subscribed being present amongst others at the solemnizing of their said marriage and subscription in manner aforesaid as witnesses hereunto have also to these present s subscribed our names the day and year above written Jn Clark Eliz Appleton Robt Ludgater sen Wm Ludgater sen Benj Ludgater Jn Garritt Jn Fryett Wm Chapman Thos Masks Robt Ludgater Joseph Drywood Dan Drywood Thos Deadman Anna Masks Hannah Fryett Sarah Drywood Eliz Fryett Mary Masks Eliz Dellow Mary Clarke Mary Shave Ann Babbs Susanna Clark Eliz Cowley Susan Lechwith Anna Babbs Anna Brightwene Mary Emerson relations Nich Gosling Wm Clark Jn Gosling Mary Gosling Antho Tapp Judith Tapp Eliz Appleton
