whereas Jn Inever of Brocksted in the county of Essex maltster son of Wm Inever of Stebing in the county aforesaid yeo and Jane Clarke daughter of Thos Clarke late of Little Coggeshall in the county aforesaid yeo deceased propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Halsted and Coggeshall and the said meetings made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Jn Inever and Jane Clarke did come into our public meeting place in Great Coggeshall upon the 23.9.1681 and in a public assembly then and there met in our pres ence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jn Inever taking the said Jane Clarke by the hand said friends in the presence of you all and in the fear of god I take my dear friend Jane Clarke to be my wife promise to live and abide with her as becomes the truth till death separate us then Jane Clarke taking the said Jn Inever by the hand said friends in the presence of the lord and before you his people I Jane Clarke take Jn Inever to be my husband and do promise to live with him as a loving wife till death separate us and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties have hereunto first subscribed their names and we who were then present are witnesses that they were so married Jn Inever Jane Clarke otherwise Inever Wm Inever Jn Jesper Dan Gunne Dan Wallis Robt Ludgater sen Jn Browne Jas Stokes Thos Bennett Jn Thorne Jn Ludgater Robt Adams Rich Pemberton Ed Mines Sarah Inever Sarah Clarke Susanna Wallis Eliz Fryitt Ann Beckwith etc
