whereas Jon Bowle of Coggeshall Magna in the county of Essex locksmith and Sarah Groome of Halsted in the county of Essex propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Coggeshall Magna and Earls Colne and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the accomplishment of their said intentions the said Jon Bowle did come into our public meeting place in Halsted in the county aforesaid upon the 4.4.1683 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the sai d Jon Bowle taking the said Sarah Groom by the hand said friends in the presence of the lord and before this assembly I Jon Bowle take Sarah Groome to be my wife promising to be a loving and tender husband unto her until death separate then the said Sarah Grom taking the said Jon by the hand said friends in fear of the lord and in the presence of his people I Sarah Groom take Jon Bowle to be my husband promising to be a loving and faithful wife until death and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties have hereunto subscribed their names and we who were then present were witnesses that they were so married Jon Bowle Sarah Groome Robt Yardley Jn Ludgater Jn King Rich Manly Edm Prior Wm Swan Francis Hunwick sen Wm Newman Geo Clarke Francis Hunwick jun Sam Alexander Jn Isaac Sarah Ludgater Hannah King Sarah Isaac Hannah Manley Hannah Isaac Kath Isaac Lyda Allen
