recognisance Robt Carter (may be Robt Carter) the elder and Jn Burton of White Colne yeoman and Wm Ford of Earls Colne miller for Thos Carter of White Colne now remaining in the gaol of Colchester for that he refused to perform an order concerning a base child begotten on the body of Mary Graunte of Earls Colne spinster of which he is charged to be the reputed father to appear and abide the order of the justices taken before Roger Harlakenden and Thos Waldegrave esquires who set down the order abovesaid
