Essex sessions at the general quarter sessions of the peace held for the county aforesaid at Chelmsford in the same county tuesday next after the feast of epiphany viz 11.1.1704 whereas by an order of Hen Ayloffe esq and Jn Cressener esq two of her majesty's justices of the peace for this county bearing date the 26.7.1703 made upon complaint of the parish of Earls Colne in the said county that Thos Horne of Alphamstone in the said county on the 24.6.last did come into the parish of Earls Colne and received great damage by a horse accidentally going over him in the queen's highway in the parish did break his leg and was bruised so that he was not fit to remove from thence that the surgeon nurses lodgings provisions and other necessaries whereby the said parish of Earls Colne have been burdened hath amounted to the sum of 14li3s which the said justices did order the parish of Alphamstone to defray to the parish of Earls Colne but the parish of Alphamstone not being satisfied therewith did at the general quarter sessions of the peace held for the said county the 5.10.last past appealed from the order of the said two justices unto this court and by order of this court the appeal was continued to the next general quarter sessions of the peace upon peril of costs on that side the appeal shall go against now upon hearing of counsel on both sides after long debate thereof it is ordered by this court that the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of Alphamston aforesaid do pay to Jn Cressener esq one of her majesty's justices of the peace of this county 11li towards the charges and disbursements of the churchwarden and overseers of the poor of the parish of Earls Colne for the surgeons nurses lodging provisions and other necessaries disbursed for the said Thos Horne to be distributed in such manner as he shall think most fit for the court Reynolds clerk of the peace
