whereas at a court here held tuesday being 19.9.1587 Jas Pennocke was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one commonly rented tenement with garden adjoining lying in Colne sometime of Wm Waite of London and afterwards of Jn Pennocke which fell to him by and after the death of Joan Pennocke at that time wife of Hen Smithe now deceased as by copy of a roll of that court here shown in this court it is clearly shown and appears now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Jas Pennocke out of this court and after the last court surrendered the aforesaid cottage with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Dashe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Warde and Thos Smithe customary tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor to the use and behoof of Sam Burton junior his heirs and assigns forever who came to this court by Sam Burton senior his father and deputy and attorney in this part and sought for himself admittance thereof to whom the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Sam Burton junior and his heirs and assigns to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord ac cording to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin fealty however was respited etc and he was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
