whereas at a court here held monday being 16.6.1595 Rich Haynes was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs by and after the death of Nich Haynes his father deceased to one half of an aldercarr called Gosfen and three crofts of land lying in the parish of Colne Engaine and White Colne called Cotecrofts sometime in the tenure of Wm Love and lying together between the king's highway leading from Colneford Hill towards Colne Engaine on one part and lands pertaining to the manor of Shrives on the other part as by a copy of a roll of the same said court here in full court produced and clearly shown and whereas also at a court here held tuesday being 30.9.1606 the said Rich Haynes was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs by and after the death of Agnes Haynes widow his mother deceased to the other half of the said aldercarr called Gosfen and three crofts of the said land called Cotecrofts as by a roll of the said court here in court produced it is clearly shown now it is shown by the homage of this court that the aforesaid Rich Haynes out of this court and after the last court surrendered the aforesaid aldercarr called Gosfen and the aforesaid three crofts of land called Cotescrofts into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Cobbe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Xoph Isaacke and Hen Abbotte senior two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of Wm Prentis Helen Prentis and Eliz Prentis daughters of the said Wm Prentis and their heirs and assigns forever who the same said Wm present here in court and the aforesaid Helen and Eliz by the said Wm the father and their attorney in this part the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Wm Helen and Eliz and their heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine etc and the said Wm made fealty to the lord and the fealty however of the said Helen and Eliz was respited until etc and they were admitted tenants thereof etc
