it is also shown by the homage that Jn Newton who held for himself and his heirs by copy of a court roll one cottage and curtilage with appurtenances late of Wm Sprigge died before this court and after the last court seised thereof in the aforesaid form and that Sam Newton is his son and next heir thereof according to the custom of the aforesaid manor and is under age viz aged 14yrs or thereabouts upon which now to this court came Eliz Ward mother of the same said Sam in person and sought that the aforesaid Sam should be admitted to the cottage and other aforesaid premises with appurtenances as his right and inheritance to whom the same said Sam by the aforesaid Eliz his deputy the lord by his steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to himself the aforesaid Sam and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine for his admission as is shown in the margin and he was admitted thereof tenant of the lord etc but the fealty of himself was respited until he should reach his full age etc and because he is under age therefore custody both of his body and of the aforesaid premises were committed to the aforesaid Eliz Ward during his minority to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and the aforesaid Eliz for the aforesaid custody similarly paid to the lord her fine and fealty and was admitted thereof tenant etc
