to this court came Wm Hills and Mary his wife sometime wife of Geo Hammond in person the aforesaid Mary first by the steward as is the custom solely and secretly examined and they surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward one parcel of two tenements lying together in Holt St sometime of Jn Johnson and afterwards of Robt Game between a tenement late of Thos Hutton on one part and a tenement late of Thos Bridge on the other part one head abutting upon a garden of the said Thos Hutton and the other head thereof abutting upon the kings highway there and one purpresture or small parcel of waste field of the lord by the structure of a certain chimney at the aforesaid tenement lying in Holt St containing in length about 12ft and in breadth about 4ft assessed and one small piece or parcel of curtilage pertaining to the said tenement called Middle House late of Agnes Wells containing in length 24ft assessed and in breadth 22ft assessed and adjoining the curtilage at that time pertaining to a tenement of Edw Clemens which same said premises the aforesaid Geo Hammond and the aforesaid Mary then his wife took for themselves their heirs and assigns forever at a court here held 3.10.1607 to the use and behoof of Jn Sworder his heirs and assigns forever to whom the same said Jn present here in court the lord by his steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to him and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he made fine and fealty and was admitted etc
