whereas at a view with court here held 29.3.1627 Barth Hayward was admitted tenant of the lord among other things to one field or parcel of land called Mellfield as by a roll of the aforesaid court clearly shown now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Barth Hayward after the last court and before this court viz 6.1.1631 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Read junior instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Fookes and Jn Read senior two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor one part of the aforesaid field or parcel of land called Mellfield containing by estimation 1a more or less as it is now divided lying between the lands of Edw Alliston clothier being a parcel of the aforesaid field called Mellfield towards the east and on the other part of the aforesaid field called Mellfield in the tenure of the said Barth towards the west to the use and behoof of Edw Fynch and his heirs forever who present here in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have the aforesaid one part of the aforesaid field or parcel of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Edw Finch and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rent of 18d per annum to be paid at the usual feasts for payment within the aforesaid manor and by all other services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine etc and afterwards into this same court and the court sitting came the aforesaid Edw Fynch and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward the aforesaid one part or parcel of land called Mellfield with appurtenances to the use and behoof the aforesaid Edw Fynch for his lifetime and after his decease to the use and behoof of Moses Fynch his son and the heirs of the said Moses forever to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have the aforesaid part of the field or parcel of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Edw Fynch for his lifetime and after his decease the remainder thereof to Moses Fynch and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rent of 18d per annum to be paid at the usual feasts for payment within the aforesaid manner and by all other services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their separate fines and made fealty to the lord and were admitted thereof tenants in the aforesaid form
