and furthermore to this court came Robt Till and Margt his wife and Rich Parkinson and Geo Bentall and Ann his wife in person Margt and Ann themselves solely and secretly examined by the steward of the court as is the custom and they surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward one capital messuage lately built in which Jn Kettle now lives one ancient barn one new barn one large orchard one small orchard one field called Home Field containing by estimation 4a one parcel of land called Oxen Fenn two chases one close of land called Broad Field containing by estimation 6a with appurtenances all of which are now in the tenure of the said Jn Kettle and all other their customary lands and tenements which descended to the aforesaid Margt and Rich and Ann as blood relatives and coheirs of Jn Machyn deceased lying in Earls Colne by name one parcel of land with garden buildings and dwelling houses built thereon lying upon the northern part of a close containing 6a by estimation and lying next to Wyldfeild and one northern part or parcel of an aldercarr called Oxen Fenn containing by estimation 4a2r with ways and appurtenances and one croft of land with appurtenances late parcel of Broad Field alias Bradfield and all other customary lands and tenements which have descended to them as blood relative and coheirs of the said Jn Machyn and lying in Earls Colne to the use and behoof of Jn Kent his heirs and assigns forever to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid capital messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the aforesaid Jn Kent his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rent of 14s6d per annum and by all other services and customs thereunto belonging etc and he gave to the lord for a fine etc
