whereas at a court here held 9.8.1620 Dan Aymes was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to two crofts of customary land now divided into three and a certain way pertaining to the aforesaid croft from ancient times lying in Markshall and containing by estimation 4a of land as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Dan Aymes before this court viz 30.9.last surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Cunliffe instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Jas Pennocke and Jn Brewer two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor the aforesaid croft of land and way with appurtenances by name all his customary land held of the aforesaid manor to the use and intention of his last will and afterwards he died thus seised thereof upon which came here into court Geo Cockerell and Thos Keyes and produced here in court testimonial letters of the said Dan Aymes approved under the seal of the ordinary of this area and bearing the date of the said 30.9. the tenor of which concerning the premises in these following English words item the house and tenement wherein I now live with all the houses barns stables and hereditaments belonging and appertaining with all and singular the appurtenances together with all the copyhold land arable meadow pasture appertaining and belonging to the manor of Coggeshall Hall and all my copyhold lands belonging to the manor of Feering Berry together with all my copyhold lands belonging to Colne Priory with all and singular the appurtenances my will and meaning is shall be sold within one year after my decease by my well beloved friends Geo Cockerell and Thos Keyes of Feering in the county of Essex yeomen and the benefit and money that shall be made thereof my will and meaning is shall be paid and equally divided part and part like among Margt my loving wife to Dan Aymes Robt Aymes Hen Aymes and Thos Aymes my four sons to Joan the wife of Dan Larrett to Eliz the wife of Jn Rose and Grace Aymes my three daughters at the discretion of the said Geo Cockerell and Thos Keyes whom I do appoint feoffees in trust and supervisors of this my last will and testament as by the aforesaid testimonial letters it plainly appears now at this court in full and open court came the aforesaid Geo Cockerell and Thos Keyes and declared and thus it was shown by the homage that the aforesaid Geo Cockerell and Thos Keyes by virtue of the aforesaid testament for certain sums of money paid to them by Thos Honywood knight sold the aforesaid croft of land and way with appurtenances amongst others to the aforesaid Thos Honywood his heirs and assigns forever to whom by Mark G===ds his deputy and attorney the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid croft of land and way with appurtenances to the aforesaid Thos Honywood his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine but his fealty was respited
