whereas at a court here held 21.10.1646 it was shown by the homage of the court that Jn Allen customary tenant of the aforesaid manor on 29.9.1646 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Reade instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Jn Church and Jn Brewer two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying one cottage and yard and pond with appurtenances situated on the upper end of the green of Earls Colne late of Rich Kempe and then in the tenure and occupation of Geo Hunwicke and Joan Kempe widow to the use and behoof of Jn Bowles and Kath his wife and the heirs and assigns of the said Jn Bowles forever as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears which aforesaid premises Jn Allen took for himself and his heirs at a court here held 3.10.1643 now to this court came the aforesaid Jn Bowles and humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid cottage yard and pond with appurtenances to the aforesaid Jn and Kath and the heirs of the said Jn forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord for a fine and made fealty
