Eliz Abbott to Oldhall Sagis Garden Judds Garden parcel of other gardens and to a parcel of St Mary Croft to this court came Edw Hewson gentleman and Eliz his wife daughter and heir of Jn Lucas gentleman and Mary lately his wife deceased and the aforesaid Eliz by the aforesaid steward first solely and secretly examined as is the custom and consenting the aforesaid Edw and Eliz by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his aforesaid steward one messuage and garden adjoining called Old Hall one garden called Sagis Garden one other garden called Judds Garden and one parcel of garden containing in length 6rod and in breadth 4rod lying between a garden called Prudds on one part and lands late of the convent Priory of Colne on the other part and one parcel of land parcel of the same said croft called St Mary Croft and containing in length 18rod2ft assessed more or less to the eastern edge and 1rod2ft assessed more or less to the western edge as it is divided by the metes and bounds the aforesaid premises are now in the tenure and occupation of Jn Garrett and which after having recovery thereof among other things the aforesaid Eliz previously at this court had for herself and her heirs to the use and behoof of Eliz Abbott fourth daughter of Hen Abbott of Earls Colne saymaker and the heirs and assigns of Eliz forever upon the good faith and trust however that if the aforesaid Hen should outlive Rose his wife and mother of the said Eliz and if the aforesaid Rose should die without heirs of her body by the said Hen procreated that from that time the heirs of the said Eliz should surrender all and singular the premises with appurtenances according to the custom of the aforesaid manor to the use and behoof of the said Hen his heirs and assigns forever upon which came here into court the aforesaid Eliz Abbott by the aforesaid Hen her attorney and deputy in this part and sought admittance as tenant of the lord to the premises to whom the same said Eliz Abbott by the hands of her attorney and aforesaid deputy the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid messuage and all other premises with appurtenances to the aforesaid Eliz Abbott her heirs and assigns forever upon the good faith and aforesaid trust from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the separate rents and services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord for a fine
