Jas Day to Kings Garden | whereas at a court here held 3.10.1643 Frances King and Alice King were admitted tenants of the lord for themselves and their heirs in coparcenary to one parcel of land called Kings Garden with appurtenances and whereas at a court here held 5.1.1659 Robt Knight was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs by the surrender of the said Frances to one half of the aforesaid parcel of land with appurtenances now at this court it is testified by the steward and was shown by the homage that after the last general court viz 4.4.15Chas2 the aforesaid Robt Knight and the aforesaid Alice now his wife out of court came before the aforesaid Jn Joscelyne steward of the aforesaid manor and the aforesaid Alice solely and secretly examined by the aforesaid steward as is the custom and consenting the aforesaid Robt Knight and Alice by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his aforesaid steward all the parcel of land called Kings with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jas Day of Earls Colne miller his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance as tenant of the lord for the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold all that aforesaid parcel of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Jas Day his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine and made fealty |
