whereas at a court here held 20.3.1682 it appeared to the homage that 28.12.1681 Wm Hatch and Eliz his wife the said Eliz solely and secretly examined by the steward and consenting etc surrendered into the hands of the lord all that customary tenement and garden adjoining called Muggs alias Princes situate in Colne Street between a tenement called The Blewbore on the east part and a tenement once Barth Church's on the west part and now in the occupation of the said Wm Hatch with all and singular appurtenances and also one piece or parcel of a yard adjoining to a tenement called Tredgolds with a tenement lately built on it situate in Earls Colne aforesaid now in the tenure of occupation of the said Wm Hatch and concerning all that tenement and garden called Muggs alias Princes immediately after the marriage agreed between Simon Overall and Eliz Hatch is consummated to the use of the said Simon Overall for and during the term of his life and after his death to the use of the said Eliz the daughter for and during the term of her life and after her death to the use of the heirs of the body of the said Simon Overall on the body of the said Eliz the daughter procreated and for defect of heirs to the use of the right heirs of the said Simon Overall forever and of and concerning the said piece or parcel of yard adjoining the tenement called Tredgolds etc to the use of the said Wm Hatch and Eliz his wife for and during the term of their lives and after their deaths to the use of Mary Ellis widow daughter of the said Wm Hatch for and during the term of her life to have ingress and regress to take water from the well pertaining to the tenement called Mugges etc and after her death to the use of the said Simon Overall and Eliz Hatch the daughter for and during the term of their lives and the survivor of them and after their death to the use of the heirs of the body of the said Simon on the body of the said Eliz the daughter procreated and for defect of such to the use of the right heirs of the said Simon forever and none came to take the premises therefore proclamation made etc now at this court it appeared to the homage that the marriage was consummated and upon this the said Simon Overall and Eliz his wife humbly petition admittance to the tenement called Muggs with appurtenances to hold to the said Simon and Eliz for their lives and after their deaths to the use as specified in the surrender at the will of the lord etc and gave the lord for fine etc and the admittance to the other premises adjoining Tredgolds aforesaid was respited at their request
