was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to two cottages then lived in as one with a garden adjoining the same by the surrender of
Alban Prentice
and
Jn Prentice
as is made clear by a certain copy of court roll of this court produced and bearing the date of the same day and year now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid
Thos Man
after the last court and before this court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of
Robt Cobb
instead of the bailiff in the presence of
Jn Ward
and
Thos Smith
two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying the aforesaid cottage and the aforesaid garden with their appurtenances to the use and behoof of
Ambrose Waller
and his heirs forever upon the condition that the aforesaid
Ambrose
his heirs or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid
Thos Man
his heirs executors or assigns the sum of 10li at the dwelling house of
Thos Smith
comar
situated in the said Earls Colne on the
feast of michaelmas that shall fall in the year 1605
otherwise this surrender should be null and void in law who the same said
Ambrose Waller
present here in court sought admittance to the premises according to the surrender as stated above to whom the lord by his said steward granted to him seisin thereof to have for himself and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and as is stated in the margin and he made fealty to the lord and was admitted tenant thereof
