fine 40swhereas at a view of frankpledge with court here held monday 12.4.1602 Jn Woodwarde was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs by the surrender of Wm Finch to two crofts of land called Pettycrofts also Pettcrofts containing by estimation 4a with all and singular its appurtenances as by a copy of court roll of this court shown here in court and legally pledged fully and shown in court now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Jn Woodwarde after the last court and before this court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Rookes junior instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Rookes senior and Edw Catt two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying the two croft mentioned above with their appurtenances to the use and behoof of Margt his wife now wife of Jn Griggs during the lifetime of the said Margt and after her decease to Joan his daughter and the heirs of her body legitimately procreated and in default of such issue to the rightful blood relative who the same said Margt present here in court sought admittance to the premises for her lifetime according to the surrender above stated to whom the lord by his steward granted to her seisin thereof to have to herself and her heirs during her lifetime to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine as is stated in the margin and was admitted tenant thereof and the admittance and fine of the said Joan her daughter was respited until it should fall in possession
