item it is shown by the homage that Robt Churche late of Earls Colne doctor of divinity and tenant of this said manor after the last court and before this court by his surrender here in court dated 22.12.1615 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Cobbe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Churche Edw Cressner gentleman and Sam Brewer customary tenants of this manor to the use and intention stated and declared in his last will and testament dated 29.11.1615 which said last will was produced here in court and by the same decreed gave and bequeathed among other things one piece of land containing by estimation about 1a late parcel of Berecroft as it lies in the said Colne viz between the land late of Thos Christmas and afterwards Barth Churche on the part of illegible text and the rest of the said croft of land called Berecroft on the other part towards the west one head thereof abutting upon illegible text towards Colne Park on the south and the other head thereof abutting upon a garden illegible text towards the north as by the metes and bounds etc and one croft of enclosed land containing by estimation all together 3a# of the same said croft of land called Berecroft lying between the land late of Robt Allen and now of Jn Churche illegible text towards the west and the said 1a of land late of Lewis Jegon late parcel of the said croft of land called Berecroft abutting upon the lane called Berecroft lane towards the south the other head thereof abutting upon the garden of Wm Hales# as by the metes and bounds etc to the use and behoof of Barth Churche son of the said Robt his heirs and assigns illegible text if the said Barth die before his full age of twenty-one years then the land and other the said premises with appurtenances should remain to the said Robt Churche his heirs and assigns forever and now to this court in person came the said Barth and sought admittance to the said premises according to the form and effect of the said last will and testament whereupon the lord by the hands of the steward granted seisin thereof to have and to hold the said lands and premises with appurtenances to the aforesaid Barth Churche illegible text according the effect of the said last will and testament from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom illegible text and by right accustomed and he gave the lord his fine and was admitted thereof tenant and fealty respited until etc
