and furthermore it is shown by the homage that Jn Dedman customary tenant of this manor after the last court and before this court viz 21.10.1628 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Addams instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Pilgrim and Jn Griggs two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor all that messuage tenement or cottage with appurtenances by whatever name or names the said messuage is or before this was recognised situated and being in the said Earls Colne to the use and behoof of Robt Mihill his heirs and assigns forever upon condition that the said Robt Mihill his heirs executors administrators or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the said Jn Dedman his heirs executors or assigns 8li17s at or before the feast of the annunciation next following the date of the said surrender in or at the dwelling house of the said Jn Pilgrim situated in the said Earls Colne and the said jury furthermore presented that the said Jn Dedman was satisfied and paid by the said Robt Mihill according to the form and effect of the condition in the said surrender whence the said Robt Mihill sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have the said messuage tenement or cottage with appurtenances to the said Robt Mihill his heirs and assigns forever free of the said conditions to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant
