whereas at a court here held 20.10.1644 it was presented by the homage that Lance Prior after the then last court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Edw Harris instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Robt Andrewes two customary tenants of the said manor testifying etc one messuage or tenement with a yard called Pannelles with appurtenances to the use and behoof of the said Lance and Jane Wright now wife of the said Lance and the heirs and assigns of the said Lance as is shown by the said court roll now to this court came the said Lance and Jane and humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage and yard with appurtenances to the said Lance and Jane and the heirs and assigns of the said Lance forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fines and afterwards in the same court and the court sitting came the said Lance and Jane the same Jane solely and secretly examined by the said steward as is the custom and by agreement and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward the said messuage and yard with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Giles Crowe his heirs and assigns who present in court humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage and yard with appurtenances to the said Giles Crowe his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty
