at this court it was presented by the homage that Dan Lea a customary tenant of the said manor since the last general court that is to say upon 1.1.1657 did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Mich Hayward in place of the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Jn Hayward two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing all that his part of a yard now or late part of a tenement called Garlands containing in length 60ft and in breadth 4ft to the use and behoof of Magdalen Lea sister of the said Dan and of her heirs and assigns forever which premises the said Dan did take to him and his heirs at a court held for the said manor 18.12.1640 and thereupon the said Magdalen by Robt Lea her attorney and deputy in that behalf desired to be admitted tenant to the said premises to which said Magdalen by the hands of her said deputy the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said part of the said yard with the appurtenances to the said Magdalen her heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and she gave to the lord for her fine
