at this court it was presented by the homage that Jn Clerke customary tenant of the said manor after the last court viz 2.7. surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Peartree instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Robt Potter senior and Wm Adams senior two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying etc one messuage tenement or cottage late of Jn Brewer with yards gardens and backsides pertaining with one head or part thereof adjoining a cottage late of Edw Clerke and now Hen Abbott senior another head or part thereof abutting upon the free lands of the said Hen called Longlands towards the south and another part thereof abutting upon the cottage late of Jn Stephens and another part abutting upon the king's highway leading from The Hayhouse towards Colne Park on the north part to the use and behoof of Hen Abbott junior son of the said Hen Abbott senior and to the heirs and assigns of the said Hen Abbott junior forever which premises the said Jn Clerke took for himself and his heirs by copy of court roll bearing the date 2.1.1655 to whom the said same Hen Abbott junior by the hands of the said Hen Abbott senior in the part of his attorney and deputy the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage tenement or cottage with yards gardens and the backsides with appurtenances to the said Hen Abbott junior his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine etc
