at a court 12.7.1664 Robt Payne alias Allen was admitted to part of a messuage or tenement called Mordens once of Hen Dove late in the occupation of Thos Andrews and Jn Payne and now in the occupation of the said Thos Andrews now it appears that he on 4.3.1680 surrendered by the hands of Sam Burton instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Garrett and Jn Fletcher two customary tenants etc all his customary lands in the manor to the use of his last will and that he died before this court upon which came Jn Payne his son and showed the will dated 15.3.1679 the tenor of which concerning the premises says item I give and bequeath unto Jn Payne my son and to his heirs and assigns forever all that my copyhold messuage or tenement with all and singular the appurtenances now in the occupation of Thos Andrews lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and holden of the same manor upon this condition following viz that he the said Jn Payne and his heirs executors or assigns shall pay or cause to be paid unto Grace Payne my loving wife within six months after my decease the full and just sum of 4li of lawful money of England and also the sum of 6li of the like lawful money unto my daughter Rosamund the wife of Jn Pewter within six months next after my decease as aforesaid etc and the said Jn Payne was admitted tenant thereof and gave fine and made fealty
