at a court 4.4.1671 Robt Payne alias Allen was admitted to all that cottage late into two divided once parcel of Windmill Hill then in the tenure of Ellen Smith widow and Eliz Ellis widow and after in the several occupations of Jas Allen and the said Robt Payne now it appears that he on 4.3.1680 surrendered by the hands of Sam Burton instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Garrett and Jn Fletcher two customary tenants all his customary lands etc to the use of his last will and before this court he died upon which came Rosamund wife of Jn Pewter and one of the daughters of the said Robt and showed the will in court the tenor concerning the premises in the following words item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rosamund the wife of Jn Pewter aforesaid all that my messuage or tenement with the appurtenances wherein I now dwell and to her heirs and assigns forever and Rosamund Pewter was admitted tenant thereto and gave fine
